Day 14: New Hampshire: Steam over Lake Pleasant
Still Recovering / Waking up at 5
Not a lot to post today. It's Friday and I have my night class tonight. problem is that I have been getting up before 5. Our latitude is high (~43 deg N) Summer solstice is a day or 2 away, and we are relatively East in our time zone . . . thus the sun rises around 5 AM in spectacular fashion over the lake.
As with Minnesota the lake is warmer than the air above it this morning. As a result the water evaporating near the lake surface quickly cools and condenses leading to some "steam" over the lake surface, which dances amid the vapors. I spend most of day trying to get caught up on lesson prep for my classes and sorting photos for this blog.
In the evening I deliver my most incoherrent night class ever. We are now 3 timezones east and my 5-8 class has become an 8-11 PM journey, which when combined wiht road exhaustion + getting up at 5 AM or earlier is just not a sustainable combination. Slowly my students all trickle away then do I . . .
